Your adventure leading up to the big race will navigate through landscapes that will celebrate the diversity of a region that is steeped in history, culture, and scenery. You will see exactly why the Pacific Northwest makes people describe the Bellingham Bay Marathon as the most beautiful marathon they have ever run. This entire itinerary is crafted around the Bellingham Bay Marathon in Bellingham, Washington. Our Chef will prepare meals each day that meet the needs of individual runners getting ready for breaking their personal best times. There will be time daily for training runs if needed as well as pre- and post-race detail management by Experience Park Tours.

Day 1: The Emerald City Jewels
Premium Lodging: The Motif: Seattle, WA

Our adventure begins in the Emerald City at the Pike Place Market, where visitors have been witnessing the flying fish, fresh flowers and amazing food and hand-crafted treasures since 1907. We’ll explore Seattle Center for panoramic views of the Puget Sound and the Cascade Range from atop the famous Space Needle before walking through the Chihuly Garden of Glass. Next, our Limo Liner takes us on a scenic drive of the Seattle area while we learn about the history, culture and iconic landmarks that make this place so special. Our dinner will be at Seattle’s famous Salty’s at Alki which offers nutritious options and sweeping views of Elliott Bay and the Seattle skyline. The evening is yours to explore downtown Seattle and the waterfront on from the Motif, in the heart of the Emerald City.

Day 2: Seattle, Puget Sound, Victoria, Butchart Gardens, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, Harrison Hot Springs

We’ll depart early aboard the Victoria Clipper to travel across the Puget Sound and into Victoria’s Inner Harbor. Enjoy panoramic views of Mt. Rainier and the Cascade Range along with active sea life and coastal birds of the Puget Sound. A short trip on the Limo Liner takes us to Butchart Gardens for high tea and a stroll through the century-old gardens. We’ll then take a ferry to the Capilano Suspension Bridge State Park to walk amongst giant trees, cliffs towering above the forest floor. The series of narrow cantilever suspension bridges, stairs, and platforms allow you to marvel at the amazing scenery of Vancouver, BC. We’ll then travel through the Fraser Valley to end at Harrison Hot Springs Resort. Explore the surrounding walking trails, relax in one of the many hot spring pools, and enjoy a sunset dinner overlooking Harrison Lake.

Day 3: Eco River Cruise, Harrison Hot Springs, Fraser Valley

Take the morning to explore the Hot Springs Resort. After lunch, we will take an eco jet boat cruise in search of majestic eagles, osprey, seals, herons and a variety of other wildlife. On this 1.5 hour trip down the Harrison River, we’ll meet up with Harrison Bay and Harrison Mills, near Kilby Provincial Park. Enjoy the natural serene beauty of the river and other points of interest such as First Nations’ petroglyphs, the historic “Bubble and Squeak” sunken steamship, and the stunning vistas of the mountains surrounding the Fraser Valley. Our chef will serve dinner at a specially chosen scenic spot as we take in the sunset and view wildlife emerge into the evening.

Day 4: Whale Watching Tour in The San Juan Islands

We’ll depart early to cross the border into the US to the Port of Bellingham for a full day exploring the majestic San Juan Islands. We’ll begin with a scenic cruise through the heart of the Islands to Friday Harbor where you’ll have ample time to wander around this vibrant seaside port filled with interesting shops, art galleries, brewpubs, and the largest whale museum in the Northwest. Next, we’ll enjoy a delicious Northwest wild salmon and BBQ chicken lunch with a variety of side dishes and dessert, all while taking in the sites aboard the Victoria Star 2. While you dine, we’ll make our way towards prime whale watching waters in search of Orca, Humpback, Minke, and on rare occasions, Gray and Fin whales. This San Juan Islands Deluxe Whale Watching Adventure cruise provides incredible sights, sounds, and marine wildlife for you to enjoy. After our cruise, we will take a drive through the Bellingham Bay Marathon course with our local expert. Racers will have the chance to fully absorb the course features and strategically prepare for the event. We will stop by the marathon expo at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal in the afternoon to pick up our packets, bib numbers and other marathon goodies. The evening is yours to enjoy at the beautiful Semiahmoo Resort.

 

Day 5: Bellingham by the Bay Marathon and Semiahmoo Resort
Premium Lodging: Semiahmoo Resort Golf and Spa; Blaine, WA

The chef will serve a hearty breakfast on the Limo Liner as you are escorted to the start line. There will be an assortment of pre-race energy gels, bars, and beverages for your convenience. Head to the Vacation Races and Experience Park Tours VIP tent to check-in, warm up and do what you need to prepare. Your guide, driver and chef will meet you at the finish line and escort you to the Limo Liner to rest and begin your recovery. Shaded away from the elements beneath the Limo Liner’s awning, you will find cots to rest on while your guide provides hot and cold towels infused with essential oils. There will be ice tubs, compression sleeves and muscle rollers for your legs, as well as any other personal requests made prior to the race. You’ll find an assortment of healthy fats, high protein and carbohydrate-filled treats, hydrating beverages and recovery smoothies as well. When you’re ready to feast, the chef will have prepared your favorite post-race meal, paired with your most-craved beverage to enjoy in the comfort of the Limo Liner or outside overlooking the scenery. The Experience Park Tours shuttle will drive you Depot Market Square to attend the complimentary Finish Festival where you can enjoy live music, food and beer, and celebrating with other finishers and supporters. The rest of the day will be spent at Semiahmoo Resort where beach walks, golf, wine tasting, paddle boarding, sea kayaking, and relaxation are in abundance. You will be provided with additional recovery items for your comfort, including heat and ice packs, muscle relieving epsom salts and oils as well as complimentary post-race vitamin supplements and beverages. If you’re ready to turn in for the night, our chef will cater a specially prepared dinner to your room.
 

Day 6: North Cascade National Park, Lake Chelan and Leavenworth
Premier Lodging: Suncadia Resort & Spa; Cle Elum, WA

Departing from Semiahmoo Resort, we’ll make our way into the North Cascade National Park, filled with glacier-clad peaks rising almost vertically from the lush forested valleys. Often called the American Alps, The North Cascades boast stunning views of virgin forests and fragile subalpine meadows where black bears, mountain goats, black-tailed deer, marmots, mountain lions and bobcats thrive. Our first stop is at Ross Lake. For those wanting to hike, the Chef will provide a pack lunch to enjoy while on the trail. As we continue our scenic drive towards the Lake Chelan Recreation Area, we’ll stop for a treat and photo-ops in the charming town of Winthrop. Once in Lake Chelan, we will visit a couple of our favorite award-winning wineries. The Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth will host us for dinner and a unique shopping experience. Our final stop is the town of Roslyn, where Northern Exposure was filmed in the 90’s, before arriving late at the Suncadia Resort.

Day 7: The Journey Home

The Limo Liner will depart early as we descend Snoqualmie Pass to Seatac International Airport. Our chef will serve breakfast in-transit as we make the one hour and forty-five-minute scenic drive. We’ll make a quick stop to view Snoqualmie Falls before arriving at the airport rested, nourished and ready for departure. If you plan to extend your stay, the Limo Liner may escort you back into the city or to the Boeing Museum of Flight, something we highly recommend visiting. We hope you enjoy traveling with us.
