Experience Park Tours, in partnership with Vacation Races, is pleased to present the Lake Powell Half Marathon featuring our all-inclusive 7 day, 6 night Desert Dreamscapes adventure. The diversity of the surrounding ancient lands will provide endless inspiration as we travel along sandstone monoliths and dive into the warm and colorful world of rivers and canyons of the dazzling southwest. Come with us as we explore the breathtaking views of the winding canyons of Lake Powell as we prepare for the Lake Powell Half Marathon. We’ll visit the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, the oasis of Zion National Park, the towering hoodoos of Bryce Canyon and the red rock arches and canyonlands of Moab. You won’t want to leave your racing shoes behind on this one-of-a kind adventure in the American Southwest!

Day 1: Salt Lake City, Arches National Park, Moab and Sunset Hummer Safari
Premier Lodging: Sorrel River Resort and Spa: Moab, UT

We will depart early for our first immersion into the National Parks. Our private chef will have a special breakfast available on the Limo Liner to fuel you for an active day of sightseeing as we enter the outstanding Arches National Park. Here guests will have the opportunity to hike the short trails that lead to the dazzling arches of the region such as Balanced Rock, The Windows, Double Arch, Delicate Arch, and Landscape Arch.

Day 2: Sunrise in Canyonlands and Floating the Colorado River

Today we start early with an optional trip into Canyonlands National Park to catch the inspiring sunrise from the scenic viewpoint at Mesa Arch. If you’re ready to run, Neck Spring Loop offers 5.8 miles of trail with 300 feet of elevation change and features historic ranches, two sweep springs, and diverse plant life. We’ll take the later part of the morning to float down the Colorado River through Glen Canyon. As we glide past colorful walls of Navajo sandstone, our experienced river adventure guide will provide a wealth of knowledge about the canyon that surrounds you. We will return to Sorrel River Ranch for an afternoon of rest and relaxation along the banks of the Colorado River. Take a dip in the heated pool, or stop by the resort’s petting zoo. Later in the evening, board an optional a jet boat for a dazzling sunset tour on the Colorado River. We will be ending our night back in Moab with a unique, open-air Dutch oven dinner on the dock patios.

Day 3: Hiking in Bryce Canyon and Tram Tour of Zion National Park

We’ll rise early for a scenic drive to Bryce Canyon National Park, a wondrous land of pines, pinnacles and oddly sculpted formations known as hoodoos. For those who wish to experience these captivating rock formations up close, take a stroll through Wall Street, the only slot canyon at Bryce. Continue onto the Navajo Trail where you’ll find Two Bridges and Thor’s Hammer towering above you. To extend your adventure, follow the trail to meet Queens Garden trail where you’ll discover the massive rock formation known as Queen Victoria. The 3 mile trail ends at Sunrise Point where the Limo Liner will be there to greet you. An optional adventure instead of a hike is a cowboy escorted trail ride on either a horse or mule, to explore the hidden gems of Peek-A-Boo Loop. We’ll stop at Sunset Point to peer into the Bryce Amphitheater where a canyon full of the magnificent spires tinted with shades of pink, orange and red put on a captivating show as the light changes across the landscape. Keep an eye open for the park’s abundant wildlife including elk, coyotes, marmots, and prairie dogs as we end the evening at your sought after accommodations at Bryce Canyon Lodge.

Day 4: Hiking in Zion National Park and Lake Powell

Today we take in the sunrise to appreciate the hoodoos, spires, pinnacles and other geological formations of Bryce Canyon in an atmosphere that is unmatched. We’ll continue to the deep canyons, lush valleys, sandstone cliffs, mountain peaks, emerald pools and pink-colored-gorges of Zion National Park. Observe thriving vegetation including cottonwood trees, dry desert plants and wildlife ranging from mule deer to hundreds of bird species. If you wish to get out and explore Zion, the park offers a wide variety of hiking trails that are suited for all activity levels (trails such as Angels Landing, the Zion Narrows, Emerald Pools, and Observation Point being world-renown hiking gems of the region). Before you go, your guide will provide a packed lunch prepared by our private chef. Other meal options include The Red Rock Grill at Zion Lodge or Castle Dome Cafe, adjacent to the lodge. The café serves a variety of snack bar-type items such as espresso and cinnamon rolls in the morning and burgers, hot dogs and french fries throughout the day. Either way you go, enjoy exploring the wonders of Zion National Park at your own pace, as the Zion Park Shuttle System offers access to the park’s key geologic features and runs frequently throughout the day. After an day of exploring, we’ll venture to the second largest man made reservoir, Lake Powell. The later hours of the afternoon bring us to Lake Powell Resort with rooms overlooking the water as you prepare for the Lake Powell Half Marathon. Later, head down to the Rainbow Room overlooking Wahweap Marina where you can enjoy fine dining paired with a beautiful sunset.

Day 5: Lake Powell Half Marathon Race Day

The chef will serve a hearty breakfast on the Limo Liner as you are escorted to the start line. There will be an assortment of pre-race energy gels, bars, and beverages for your convenience. Head to the Vacation Races and Experience Park Tours VIP tent to check-in, warm up and do what you need to prepare. Your guide, driver and chef will meet you at the finish line and escort you to the Limo Liner to rest and begin your recovery. Shaded away from the elements beneath the Limo Liner’s awning, you will find cots to rest on while your guide provides hot and cold towels infused with essential oils. There will be ice tubs, compression sleeves and muscle rollers for your legs, as well as any other personal requests made prior to the race. You’ll find an assortment of healthy fats, high protein and carbohydrate-filled treats, hydrating beverages and recovery smoothies as well. When you’re ready to feast, the chef will have prepared your favorite post-race meal, paired with your most-craved beverage to enjoy in the comfort of the Limo Liner or outside overlooking the scenery. The Experience Park Tours shuttle will drive you to the resort where you will be provided with additional recovery items for your comfort, including heat and ice packs, muscle relieving epsom salts and oils as well as complimentary post-race vitamin supplements and beverages. If you’re ready to turn in for the day, our chef will cater your meals to your room. If you want to keep moving, take the afternoon to relax and float on the lake with a paddleboard or kayak before we venture to Horseshoe bend to capture a glorious sunset.

Day 6: Antelope Canyon and The Grand Canyon

Enjoy a quiet morning on Lake Powell. Before leaving the region, we’ll head into the town of Page to begin our guided tour for a tour of the infamous Antelope Canyon. For our final travel day, we’ll continue to Grand Canyon National Park, where we’ll begin at the famous Desert View Watchtower and visit key landmarks such as the ancient Tusayan Ruins. We’ll continue to the Hopi House and make a stop at the Yavapai Geology Museum to dive deep into the history of the canyon. Later, we’ll make our way to Yavapai point to watch the sunset over the canyon and savor hor d’oeuvres served by your private chef. We’ll board the Limo Liner one last time to make the scenic drive to the Little America in Flagstaff.

Day 7: The Journey Home

Take the morning to sleep in and relax. Breakfast and a shuttle to the airport are included. If you’re not quite ready to say goodbye, indulge in a complimentary deep tissue massage at Spatique Day Spa in Flagstaff. If you have an early flight or other plans, your Flex Pass will be loaded with a dollar amount that can be put towards a deep tissue massage or any spa service of your choosing to further your post-race recovery.
