This bird journey into the Northwest provides a range of stark contrasts and awe-inspiring views, where we have carefully hand-selected only the best lodges, resorts and spas of the region. Beginning in Vancouver, BC and ending in the heart of the Emerald City, you’ll see incredible vistas, mountains, lakes, valleys and the incredible San Juan Islands. Later we will explore the heart of the Olympic National Park with your expert guide, viewing extraordinary birds including varied thrush, winter wren, Steller’s jay, gray jay, ruffed grouse, blue grouse, belted kingfisher, woodpeckers, kinglets, and sparrows. We will venture to the most northwestern point of Washington State, known as Cape Flattery, and make our way down the Pacific Coast, viewing majestic whales and seabirds. Your journey will end in the great city of Seattle for an evening on the water. Get ready to experience A Better Way to Travel.

Day 1: Harrison Hot Springs, Eco Tour
Premier Lodging: Harrison Hot Springs Resort: Fraser Valley, BC

We will be departing from Vancouver at 9am to begin our trip at the Capilano Suspension Bridge where we’ll walk among the giant trees, cliffs and the forest floor. The series of narrow cantilever suspension bridges, stairs and platforms allow you to marvel at the amazing scenery of Vancouver, BC. The your Private Chef will have a lunch prepared on the Limo Liner as we make our way into Fraser Valley, home to many beautiful birds including the Steller’s Jay and the Red Tailed Hawk. We will board a personal eco-jet boat cruise where we will see majestic eagles, osprey, seals, herons and a variety of other wildlife. We will cruise down and enjoy the natural, serene beauty of the Harrison River to meet Harrison Bay and Harrison Mills, near Kilby Provincial Park. Once water meets land, enjoy points of interest that the area has to offer including the First Nations’ petroglyphs, the historic “Bubble and Squeak” sunken steamship, and the stunning vistas of the Mountains surrounding the Fraser Valley. When we have reached one of the most scenic spots that overlooks the water, keep your eyes peeled for birds soaring over you as the Private Chef serves your dinner. Our evening will end at Harrison Hot Springs Resort for a night of relaxation amongst the resort’s luxurious amenities.

Day 2: San Juan Islands, Friday Harbor, Anacortes
Premium Lodging: Majestic Inn & Spa: Anacortes, WA

We will depart early from the Harrison Hot Springs to board the Anacortes to San Juan Island Ferry. On our way there, we will enjoy a delicious on-board breakfast provided by our chef. With over 290 species of birds, the San Juans provide the perfect location for seeing unique birds in different locations. Once we have arrived in the Islands, we will stop for whale and coastal bird watching from the Lime Kiln Point State Park lighthouse. After viewing the incredible phenomenon of whales breaching, we will enjoy an onboard lunch and relax. After we have eaten, we will prepare our binoculars, hiking shoes, bird books, cameras and walking sticks to birdwatch at the Westcott Bay Reserve Sculpture Park that features birds like the Oriental Green Finch, Ringneck Pheasant and Trumpeter Swan. After this, we will end the afternoon downtown Friday Harbor to window shop at the local small businesses. After an eventful day of sightseeing and bird watching, we will wrap up the night in Anacortes at the Majestic Inn & Spa for a night of relaxation. Once you have settled in, explore downtown Anacortes or enjoy a glass of wine as you take in the fiery sunset as it melts into the horizon

Day 3: Birding on the Island, exploring Orcas Island, Fidalgo Island

We will depart as the sun rises to get an early start to our activity filled day. We will board the ferry and enjoy a specially prepared lunch on the way to the San Juan Islands. Once we arrive at the islands, we will begin a guided bird walk that will take up half of our day. Look for Turkey Vultures and Great Blue Heron as we explore the birds of the San Juans. After a long day of exploring, we will return to our hotel to prepare and relax our bodies for the next day by visiting the spa. At the spa, we will have pre-scheduled treatments to wind down in pure tranquility. We will top off the night with a group dinner downtown where we can expand our pallets and get a unique flavor for the region.

Day 4: Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent, La Push, Ocean Shore
Premium Lodging: Quileute Oceanside Resort: La Push, WA

We will leave the Majestic Inn early to have a very scenic drive through the Fidalgo and Camano Islands as we eat breakfast. We will be stopping to view Deception Pass on the way, where we can take pictures. We will then board the Fort Casey to Port Townsend ferry and drive to Port Angeles where we will attend a guided bird walk along Hurricane Ridge. Here, we will be able to walk through the visitor center and learn more about the famous birds in the region. We will have a scenic in-field picnic provided by our private chef as we enjoy the different sounds of birds and take in all of the scents of the crisp mountain air. We will drive to Cape Flattery, where we will hike less than a mile over boardwalks, stairs and trails to a gorgeous lookout point. As we return back to the Limo Liner, appetizers and any kind of beverage that you’d like will be waiting for you as we continue our journey to La Push for a sunset dinner on the beach. At the beach we will take gorgeous pictures! Dig your toes into the sand and take in the unforgettable sunset that surrounds you. After dinner, enjoy your evening in a private ocean view deluxe cabin.

Day 5: Expert guided bird walk through Olympic National Park birding hotspots, Hoh Rainforest, Ruby Beach, Lake Quinault

We will rise and enjoy breakfast followed by optional early morning photography session on the shores of Second Beach. We will depart to Olympic National Park for a guided bird walk through the Hoh Rainforest. Don’t worry about food- our private chef will pack you a special lunch make with wholesome ingredients for your tour. The Hoh Rainforest is home to many extraordinary birds including varied thrush, winter wren, Steller’s jay, gray jay, ruffed grouse, blue grouse, belted kingfisher, woodpeckers, kinglets, and sparrows. We will continue towards Ruby Beach to enjoy specialty made appetizers and explore the tide pools and sea stacks that Ruby Beach offers. After the beach, we will enjoy a group dinner at Lake Quinault before heading to Cedarbrook Lodge.

Day 6: Olympia, Downtown Seattle, Salty’s Farewell dinner

Sleep in today and spend the morning slowly waking up and enjoying breakfast at the lodge before we board the limo liner to head to Olympia. Once we have reached Washington’s historic state capital, we will stop for lunch at the Falls Terrace Restaurant, where we can enjoy the beautiful view of the Tumwater falls paired with masterfully prepared fresh cuisine. After we have eaten, we will visit the Seward Park Audubon Center to learn more about birds in the Puget Sound. Here you can walk the trails of Seward Park, view the Garry Oak Gallery, check out the Ann Lennarts Memorial Library, or go to the Nature Store for birding supplies, gifts, and nature-inspired toys. Spend your time how you wish before we head off to Pike Place Market to do some booth shopping and explore downtown Seattle. To finish our trip, we will have a farewell dinner at Salty’s Restaurant on Alki Beach as we overlook Elliott Bay. After dinner (and desert if you’d like), we will drive to a discreet quintessentially Northwest hideaway- Cedarbrook Lodge.

Day 7: The Journey Home

We will rise early and load luggage for the short drive to the airport. The chef will have breakfast ready on the Limo Liner. Thank you for traveling with Experience Park Tours.
